I entered this school year knowing it would be a year of transitions. I did not have a contracted position at a school. Instead, I would be doing my internship over again for two or three days a week. I would have days with nothing to do and time to fill. If anyone knows me well, they know I do not do well with free time. I crave being busy (mentally or physically). Going into the school year my family tried to help: I could work on retraining my dog, I could develop teaching materials and many other very good ideas. Guess how many of those actually happened.
There were times where it felt too much for me. I was overwhelmed, bored, had pangs of loneliness, and moments where I wasn’t sure what I was actually doing with my time. Now, I am at peace and so thankful for this year. I learned so much this time around and have been subbing in so many different grades. I am getting the experience I need and becoming more confident in advance of the next application season.
I am also so thankful for my wonderful boyfriend. It has been such a blessing to spend the past few months with him and it feels so good to have another man in my life aside from the four legged one I adore. He not only has been a big support but also encouraged me to fly for the first time in years.
Thanksgiving is a time to give thanks. My family, Ben and Teddy has made my year a special one and it means a lot to celebrate with them and be together. Most importantly, no matter what you are thankful for this year or who you spend it with share kindness, positive thoughts and be there to support the ones you love. Happy Thanksgiving to all!
