This year I completely dropped the ball on all things birthdays (cards, gifts, the whole to do). It has been a lot to balance and there is more to balance coming real soon so I have to get my act together. To make up for failing on my mom’s birthday, I wanted to make today special. My mom has this amazing tradition of writing letters to people on their birthdays. I decided to write her one, in addition to making her customized coasters I found here. They came out so great! So, to all those mother’s out there today, have a great day for you.
Dear Mom,
Since you are always writing letters for everyone else on their special day and I completely dropped the ball this year on all things birthdays, I am making today all about you and writing you a letter on your special day.
I know I don’t say it very often and I usually forget to say it but I want you to know how grateful I am for everything you have done this year. Your constant willingness to help with Teddy while I am away at work or taking him so I can take a nap has been a huge help. Your support from the very beginning when I started the idea of getting a puppy meant so much. You have always been my biggest fan, even when I have some wacky ideas (like taking care of a puppy at the same time I will be starting a full time job for the first time).
You are all the rock for all of us. I don’t know where we would be without you. I know you have been a huge help this year for me, between the dinners you cook, your advice om how to deal with things that come up at work and constant words of encouragement when things get tough.
I am really looking forward to spending time with you today and while Dad is away. I know you will a rock and will continue to be when I begin the next transition of my life and move to Brookline. I can’t wait to host you and Dad for meals and share the next phase of my life with you.
Have a great mother’s day and I love you very much!
Emily
